Asked the man in bewilderment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Yes&#8221;, continued Socrates. &#8220;Before telling me anything about the other, it&#8217;s good to take sometime to filter what you mean, I call it the test of the three sieves.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, have you verified what you&#8217;re going to tell me is true?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, I just heard it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I see, So you don&#8217;t know if it&#8217;s true. Never mind. Let&#8217;s go with the second sieve. What you want to tell me about my friend, is it good?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, no no, but it&#8217;s the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hmm.. so you want to tell me bad things about him and you&#8217;re not even sure if they&#8217;re true, questioned Socrates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you can still pass the test of the third sieve. Socrates went to ask, &#8220;Is it useful that I know what you&#8217;re going to tell me about this friend?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not really!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, concluded Socrates, what you were going to tell me has neither the proof of TRUTH, nor it&#8217;s KIND and also isn&#8217;t of any UTILITY then &#8212; why did you want to tell me this anyway?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Takeaways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you speak anything, 3 things to look for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Is it true?
